报告人简介:

Dr. Mario Farrugia is associate professor in Mechanical Engineering at University of Malta. His research focuses on Internal combustion engines, heat transfer, mechatronics, electronic engine controls, power generation and thermofluids. He has published more than 60 publications in scientific journals and international conferences. He has professional membership of Warranted Engineer in Malta, Chartered Engineer in the UK, Member Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK, Member Institution of Engineering and Technology UK and Member Society of Automotive Engineers.

报告简介:

 Diesel/natural gas dual fuel (DF) engines have been an attractive alternative of traditional diesel engines for reducing both the environmental impact and operating cost. However, the operation window of dual fuel engines is constrained by knocking and misfiring phenomenon, resulting in worse dynamic behavior compared to diesel engines. The major solutions to improving the dynamic behavior of dual fuel engines include redesigning combustion chamber, optimizing air-fuel ratio control strategy, using blended fuel, etc. This study deals with the ECU design and optimization, focusing on the implementation of electronic throttle body (ETB) for controlling a dual fuel diesel engine. Both experiment and numerical simulation will be used for investigating the ETB system characteristics and engine emissions under the transient working conditions.
